Though commonly known as cordycep flowers, these bright orange, needle like looking are cultivated fungi.
Normally I would purchase the dried ones from the dried goods supplier.
During my recent trip to the supermarket, I manage to to find the fresh ones amongst the herbs section.
Without hesitation, I just grabbed one packet off the shelf. 😄
These golden hue mushrooms has a woody aroma and springy texture.
I first came across this unique ingredient while lunching at a Cantonese Restaurant few weeks back .
How about Tonic Chicken Soup with Cordycep Mushrooms?
Half portion of yellow country chicken into chunks.
Thoroughly wash the chicken and blanch.
Rinse and set aside.
In a pot, add the chicken pieces, a bunch of fresh cordycep mushrooms together with a packet of this tonic ingredients.
Bring to boil and simmer until the chicken is tender.
Best to serve this soup hot.
